On May 13, the 11th Data Center Backup Power Xiangshan Forum was held in Chongqing for the first time. Hosted by China Data Center Working Group (CDCC) and co-organized by CUMMINS, the forum gathered nearly 200 people from national big data industry experts, designers, data center operators, builders, and more than 20 user representatives represented by Internet head enterprises to discuss how to promote the safety, reliability and energy-saving development of data center standby power supply with technological innovation in the context of the digital economy and rapid development of AIGC. and reliable and energy-saving development.
As an important part of arithmetic infrastructure, data centers are ushering in unprecedented development opportunities, and stable and reliable backup power is the key to guaranteeing their continuous operation.
Zhong Jinghua, leader of CDCC, compiler of national specifications for data centers, and expert with special subsidies from the State Council, pointed out in his speech that standards have always played a fundamental role in promoting the development of the data center industry. He reviewed the four stages of China's data center development:
In the first stage (1993), the Design Code for Electronic Computer Rooms GB 50174-1993 was released, marking the beginning of China's data centers, providing independent operating space for computers;
The second stage (2008), “Design Code for Electronic Information System Computer Room” GB 50174-2008 was released, and IT equipment and network were deeply integrated;
The third stage (2017), “Data Center Design Specification” GB 50174-2017 was released, and the scale of data center construction was significantly expanded;
The fourth stage (to be launched soon), the Data Center Project Specification will be released soon, marking the industry's entry into a high-quality development stage centered on safety, reliability, energy saving and environmental protection.
Zhong Jinghua pointed out that the Xiangshan Forum has played a positive role in promoting the advancement of standby power technology, industry collaboration and experience exchange for 11 years, and will continue to help the industry's high-quality development in the future.
At the meeting, the guests jointly launched an initiative to promote the widespread adoption of safe and energy-efficient backup power systems in data centers, encourage technological innovation and the application of energy-saving and consumption-reducing solutions, and strengthen the sharing of domestic and international technological experience to help China's data center enterprises expand into the global market.
Tom Shepherd, Executive Director of Data Center Industry, Global Power Business of CUMMINS, shared the mature experience of overseas data centers in backup power configuration and management. CUMMINS, as the world's leading standby power solution provider, has a leading edge in core technologies such as large load fluctuation and power deployment, and can provide global customers with highly reliable and customized solutions to improve operational efficiency and energy use.
This year's Xiangshan Forum went out of Beijing and landed in Chongqing for the first time. The guests visited CUMMINS' only high-horsepower engine R&D center and production base in China - Chongqing CUMMINS, CUMMINS China Microgrid Innovation Center, and factory-level microgrid deployment, to gain a deeper understanding of its advanced capabilities in standby power product R&D, manufacturing and quality management, and to experience on-site CUMMINS' reliability, CUMMINS' hardcore strength in reliability, innovation and high performance.
Mr. Nathan Shih, Global Vice President of CUMMINS and Chairman of CUMMINS China, said that CUMMINS will continue to adhere to the strategic concepts of “in China, for China” and “based in China, with an eye on the world”, synergize the local layout and global resources, and join hands with all parties to promote the continuous upgrading of energy solutions for data centers, and to improve the quality of its products and services.
