With the advent of winter, the operation of construction machinery in cold areas faces many challenges, in which the correct use of antifreeze is particularly important. As one of the commonly used fluids in construction machinery, antifreeze plays an irreplaceable role in fuel-fired models, pure electric models and hybrid models.
In cold regions, antifreeze can not only effectively prevent the cooling system from freezing, but also play a multiple role in preventing corrosion, scaling, cavitation and raising the boiling point. However, how to correctly select and use antifreeze is a study. Here are a few considerations:
First of all, in order to avoid radiator clogging and affecting thermal performance caused by scale generation, users can choose to use antifreeze as the coolant of motor and battery pack throughout the year. The use of water as coolant is strictly prohibited to prevent damage to the equipment.
Secondly, when replacing the antifreeze, if the motor or power battery is overheated, you should wait for it to cool down before refilling the coolant. At the same time, the amount of coolant filling needs to be strictly in accordance with the specified height, too low a coolant surface will lead to problems such as overheating of the motor, battery pack and corrosion of the cooling system.
In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to the flammability of antifreeze, should be kept away from open flames when filling, and ensure that 100% antifreeze is not used as coolant. Regular annual antifreeze replacement is also an essential part of the process, the replacement cycle is usually 2,000 hours or a year (whichever comes first), and avoid mixing different brands of antifreeze.
When selecting an antifreeze model, users should pick one based on environmental conditions. For example, -25# antifreeze is recommended for environments >-15°C; -35# antifreeze is selected for environments >-25°C; and -45# antifreeze should be used for environments >-35°C.
High-quality antifreeze should be qualified by the national designated testing station, with clear and transparent appearance, no impurities, no turbidity and no irritating odor. Product packaging should be marked in detail on the name of the production unit, product specifications and clear indicators. The use of poor quality antifreeze not only can not play the role of anti-freezing and anti-boiling, but may accelerate the corrosion of the cooling system.
By following these professional guidelines, users can ensure the stable operation of construction machinery in winter and extend the service life of the equipment.
